Case Study: Enhancing Reliability Through Promera’s Ongoing Maintenance Services Executive Summary
By Jon DeRidder
A rapidly growing North American shipping, packaging, and industrial supply distribution company depends on a robust and reliable IT infrastructure to support same-day distribution and delivery. However, maxi-scale warehouses present significant challenges to ultra-fast communication systems required for these operations. High performance Wi-Fi and network gear deployed throughout the open-air warehouses were extremely vulnerable to contamination related failures.
Challenges
-
Airborne contaminants circulating within the warehouses accumulated on equipment enclosures and air intake vents.
-
Internal sources such as cardboard boxes and wood pallets contributed to airborne and settled contamination.
-
Local janitorial teams lacked the training and expertise to service or even access the sophisticated network equipment.
Solution
Promera designed a custom, site-specific service program to address the challenges and requirements of the different operating environments. An Ongoing Maintenance Service (OMS) program was implemented across dozens of offices, warehouses, and distribution centers throughout North America. The program included:
• Full equipment service to remove harmful contamination.
• Floor cleaning and refinishing with anti-static floor finish.
• A structured and published 12-month service schedule to ensure consistent maintenance.
Results
With Promera’s OMS program in place, the company saw an immediate reduction in equipment contamination and operating temperatures. The IT team and the entire organization benefited from lower risk of equipment failure, reduced downtime, and improved reliability of critical systems.
